Job summary
This position is for an experienced trade compliance specialist who can help run international import and export activities while keeping operations aligned with global trade laws. The role is important for maintaining efficient cross-border movement of goods and reducing regulatory exposure across different geographies.
Key responsibilities
- Make sure shipments and trade activities follow international export regulations, including EAR requirements.
- Determine the correct HTS and ECCN classifications for products and technologies.
- Help maintain export control policies, standards, and operating procedures.
- Support internal reviews and audits focused on import/export compliance.
- Serve as a contact point for government-related trade compliance questions and inquiries.
- Contribute to the design and improvement of foreign licensing programs.
- Work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams to keep shipments compliant.
- Assist with shipment coordination tasks such as freight quotes and tracking when required.
- Look for ways to improve trade compliance workflows, systems, and tools.
- Manage several priorities at once in a high-paced, changing work environment.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- At least 5 years of experience in trade compliance, import/export operations, or a similar function.
- Good understanding of customs rules and traffic procedures.
- Prior exposure to APAC, EMEA, or LATAM operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of HTS classification and ECCN evaluation is required.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical ability for handling complex compliance matters.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Able to work on your own with limited oversight while juggling multiple tasks.
Nice to have
- A Customs Broker License or credentials such as CES or CCS.
- Background in high-tech, manufacturing, or data center environments.
