Role Overview
This role is based at Pathways in Preston, part of Lancashire Care NHS. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 9:00am.
As a Cleaner, you will help maintain a safe, tidy, and inviting environment for clients, colleagues, and visitors across the site. You will be expected to deliver consistent cleaning and hygiene standards in line with site instructions, health and safety rules, and company expectations.
Key Duties
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, and disposing of waste.
- Clean washrooms, offices, corridors, welfare spaces, and other allocated areas to the required standard.
- Restock supplies including toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap when needed.
- Adhere to all health and safety, COSHH, and cleaning procedures.
- Operate cleaning tools, equipment, and products safely and appropriately.
- Escalate faults, damage, or hazards to the relevant supervisor.
- Work productively to finish tasks within set timeframes.
- Interact with customers, clients, and colleagues in a polite and professional manner.
- Carry out additional site cleaning tasks as directed by management.
Candidate Profile
The successful applicant should have the right to work in the UK and be prepared to complete a DBS check.
Previous cleaning experience in a commercial, public sector, or similar setting is helpful, though not essential. A solid understanding of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment is expected, along with awareness of hygiene and health and safety standards.
You should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, show strong attention to detail, and take pride in delivering high-quality work. Reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and the ability to follow instructions and procedures are also important.
Desirable Experience
- Prior experience in facilities management or contracted cleaning services.
- Knowledge of COSHH or the safe handling of cleaning chemicals; training can be provided.
