Role Summary
The Assistant Programme Manager will help create a welcoming and enjoyable before-school and after-school environment for children. This role requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, scheduled Monday to Friday.
Morning shifts run from 7:00 am to 8:30 am, while afternoon sessions run from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Availability from 2:30 pm onwards is essential, although finishing times may change depending on the day. Additional hours may be available during school holiday programmes, typically between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Key Duties
- Assist the Programme Manager with the daily operation of the sKids programme so sessions run smoothly and in an organised way.
- Act as second-in-charge by leading activities and taking responsibility when the Programme Manager is not present.
- Oversee and interact with large groups of tamariki while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable setting.
- Help design and deliver structured activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, and outings.
- Support the team in handling challenging behaviour through positive guidance and a consistent approach.
- Provide direction and encouragement to Programme Assistants during shifts to keep tasks and activities on track.
- Maintain strong communication with parents, caregivers, and school staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Help with preparing materials, setting up sessions, and packing everything away at the end of each programme.

Requirements
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand, such as citizenship or a valid visa.
- Reliable transport is needed to reach the new sites in Kumeu, Auckland.
- Previous experience working with children in group settings is required, such as in OSCAR, childcare, coaching, teaching, camps, or similar environments.
- Confidence to take a leadership role when needed, including making decisions and showing initiative.
- Experience or exposure to managing behaviour in group environments and the ability to stay calm, firm, and supportive.
- Ability to work well in a team while also stepping into a leadership role when necessary.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with children, adults, parents, and school staff.
- Must be over 20 years old in line with the Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Regulations 2004.
