Role OverviewThis position is part of the Sales function within the Third Party Distribution department at Aditya Birla Capital. The role is responsible for driving bancassurance business in the assigned zone, building a strong partnership with the bank, and delivering growth through efficient execution, revenue achievement, and improved profitability.The incumbent will steer business development activities, align zonal teams with partner-bank objectives, and work to strengthen market presence, customer mindshare, and execution discipline across the zone.Position DetailsReporting to: Relationship Head – TPD SouthSuperior’s Superior: Channel Head – BancaUnit: Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance LtdBusiness: Aditya Birla CapitalLocation: PAN IndiaDate: 20th May 2026Job PurposeTo manage the bancassurance relationship in the assigned zone and drive business outcomes through cost control, revenue delivery, and profitability improvement. The role also requires building the business through strategic planning and active engagement of the zonal team to deepen the partnership and support overall growth.DimensionsManpower: Direct team size of 3–6 and indirect coverage of 150–200 across alternate and retail channels.Product Mix: ULIP and Protection volumes to be delivered as per channel targets.Persistency: To be maintained as per organization norms for the new channel.Mindshare: Improve incremental mindshare and position the business as the preferred partner.Partner Branch Span: Coverage begins with 50 branches.Job Context and Key ChallengesBancassurance is the insurance distribution model in which a bank enables an insurer to offer products to its customer base. ABSLI partnered with IDFC Bank in July 2023 to distribute insurance products through non-branch banking channels and Bharat Banking.The open-architecture model allows customers to choose life insurance plans from multiple insurers based on preference and competitive pricing. It also reduces the risk of mis-selling, with oversight from regulators such as the RBI and IRDAI.Principal AccountabilitiesIdentify business opportunities that support growth in distribution and overall business performance.Contribute inputs on sales strategy, incentive structures, performance metrics, new products, technology, and systems that can improve channel growth and market visibility.Explain reward and recognition programs to the bank partner to encourage the required level of support.Spot business enablers that can improve penetration, market reach, and mindshare in the assigned geography.Create circle-level plans suited to local market conditions and launch Circle Relationship Heads to support execution.Build and execute sales plans with the bank partner and ABSLI teams to meet zonal targets, persistency goals, and profitability objectives.Develop strong working relationships with senior leaders of the partner bank.Coordinate with internal ABSLI functions to ensure smooth business delivery.Make sure activities are carried out within compliance and regulatory requirements.Handle high-level escalations quickly by influencing stakeholders and resolving issues effectively.Track zonal performance through Cluster Managers and their teams, and keep progress aligned to goals.Communicate new product launches, process updates, and regulatory changes to the team and ensure understanding of partner-bank expectations.Study new products available in the market and compare them against current offerings.Recruit, onboard, motivate, and develop team members to build an effective workforce in the zone.Plan deployment of Circle Relationship Heads and Cluster Managers within budget to maximize potential.Attract, retain, and support talent while providing proper handholding to the team.Review Circle Manager performance, ensure target delivery, and keep attrition under control.Conduct regular team meetings, communicate business goals, and align the team with the overall strategy.Provide actionable feedback and keep team morale high for stronger sales outcomes.Work with Circle Relationship Heads to unlock market potential and engage them in zonal initiatives.Forecast zonal requirements, prepare annual budgets, control expenses, and take corrective action where needed.Monitor sales promotion spending and keep it within approved limits.Carry out periodic audits and respond to any malpractice with corrective steps.Promote the organization’s mission by encouraging the right behaviors across the zone.Ensure the business remains profitable by managing renewals, business quality, and cost control.Keep expenses within the permissible expense gap and manage business leakage within limits.Track product mix closely so the zone achieves its channel targets.Eligibility and Reporting StructureThis role is suited for a senior sales leader who can manage banking relationships, lead zonal teams, and drive large-scale distribution performance across multiple locations.
