Job description
Role overview
This position supports workplace health and safety efforts for third-party accommodation facilities across the UAE. The focus is on ensuring that vendor-managed living spaces meet required standards for safety, dignity, health, and overall worker welfare. The role works closely with vendors and internal teams to strengthen compliance and continuously improve accommodation conditions.
What you will do
- Carry out scheduled and unplanned accommodation audits at vendor locations across the UAE, using Amazon’s accommodation compliance guidance together with applicable local regulations.
- Record audit outcomes in the internal system, raise escalation cases for critical issues, and partner with vendors to build corrective action plans.
- Follow up on remediation activities, evaluate evidence submitted by vendors, and escalate unresolved or unresponsive cases to senior stakeholders.
- Review compliance data, prepare reports, and identify recurring patterns or risk areas that need attention.
- Support special audit requests linked to incidents, new building reviews before peak hiring, employee complaints, and requests for regulatory verification.
- Advise vendors and internal stakeholders on safety, welfare, and compliance processes, helping drive accountability across the program.
Compliance scope
Audits will cover a wide range of accommodation requirements, including structural safety, minimum physical standards, health and safety controls, fire safety, sanitation, dining areas, recreation spaces, freedom of movement, and broader worker welfare conditions. The role requires adherence to Amazon’s Global Accommodation Compliance Guidance as well as UAE Ministerial Decision 591/2016 for accommodations housing fewer than 50 workers and Cabinet Resolution No. 13 of 2009 for accommodations housing 50 or more workers.
Reporting and working style
The coordinator reports to the WHS Manager, Amazon Operations. The role involves regular field travel across UAE vendor accommodation sites, proactive coordination with vendors to arrange access, and close tracking of timelines and approvals. Inter-city travel costs are reimbursed according to company travel policy.
Requirements and qualifications
The position calls for a bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline. At least 2 years of experience in workplace health and safety, compliance auditing, or a similar area is needed. Candidates should be comfortable with frequent travel, hold a valid UAE driving licence or be willing to obtain one, and be able to work confidently in English. Arabic is beneficial. Strong data analysis and reporting capability is also required.
Experience in social compliance, accommodation audits, or third-party vendor audits is highly desirable. Background in corrective action planning and vendor remediation is preferred. Familiarity with UAE accommodation standards and labour regulations is an advantage, and certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or an equivalent WHS qualification is a plus. Stakeholder management, cross-functional coordination, written communication, and presentation skills will be valuable in this role.
Additional information
As the program develops, responsibilities may expand to support broader worker welfare and social responsibility initiatives. Amazon also notes its commitment to inclusive hiring and provides accommodation or adjustment support during the application, interview, and onboarding process for candidates with disabilities.
