Job description

Company Overview

Ballantynes is focused on creating outstanding experiences for its customers. The business relies on the people behind the scenes and those in customer-facing roles to deliver that standard every day.

Role Overview

The Visual Design team is seeking a creative and enthusiastic professional to support the Design Manager in planning, producing, installing, and maintaining window and premium in-store visual presentations. The aim is to deliver a unified visual style across all marketing touchpoints and uphold a consistently high standard that reflects the Ballantynes brand. Displays should feel welcoming, modern, and appealing to the customers and brands featured in store.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deliver high-end display concepts for windows and in-store campaigns across all Ballantynes locations.
  • Produce and maintain premium promotional signage aligned with Ballantynes brand guidelines.
  • Support the coordination and delivery of internal and external promotions and events.
  • Build effective working relationships by communicating clearly about display needs and project requirements.

Skills and Requirements

  • Strong enthusiasm for design and visual merchandising.
  • At least 2 years of experience in visual merchandising or a similar creative role is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or comparable tools.
  • Well-organised, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Confident communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage tasks efficiently.
  • Awareness of current and emerging retail trends.
  • A full New Zealand driver licence is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel to Timaru and Invercargill, including occasional overnight stays.

Additional Information

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Applications close on 12 July 2026. Shortlisting and interviews may take place before the closing date, so the role could be filled earlier.

Applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
