Job description

Role overview

We are looking for an accomplished and well-organised Terminal Manager to oversee the daily running of an LPG terminal in Drogheda, Co. Louth. The position is central to ensuring that maintenance activities, LPG importation, storage, asset control, and contractor oversight are carried out safely, compliantly, and efficiently. You will also help drive operational performance, support site projects, and maintain strong standards across safety and regulation.

What the job involves

  • Oversee the safe receipt of LPG by ship or road tanker and ensure bulk LPG is stored securely on site.
  • Arrange planned maintenance, inspections, and testing so they are completed on schedule, with accurate records retained in the asset management system.
  • Make sure all site procedures and safe working practices are followed consistently.
  • Plan, organise, and supervise projects taking place across the terminal.
  • Track budgets, operational performance indicators, and compliance requirements throughout the facility.
  • Ensure road tankers are loaded, unloaded, and parked safely.
  • Manage contractors, including permits to work, review of risk assessments and method statements, and oversight of the management of change process.
  • Confirm that employees and contractors are properly trained and assessed in ship unloading, terminal operations, road tanker filling, maintenance procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure the Safety Management System and all site documentation, including MAPP, COMAH Safety Case, Safety Statement, On-site Emergency Plan, Risk Assessments, Operating Procedures, and Works Instructions, are fully complied with.
  • Promote and reinforce a strong health and safety culture across the business.
  • Carry out other duties as required.

Candidate profile

The right person will bring at least 2 years of experience in a similar operations or maintenance management position, preferably in an industrial, utilities, or regulated environment. Strong organisational and coordination ability is essential, along with the confidence to oversee complex operations, manage contractors, and uphold strict safety and compliance standards. Good communication and interpersonal skills are important, as is solid computer literacy and experience with asset or facilities management systems. An engineering degree would be beneficial. The successful candidate should be proactive, safety-minded, and able to lead both day-to-day activities and longer-term projects in a busy operational setting.
