Role overview
Johnson’s Dry Cleaners, part of Timpson Group Limited, is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic tailor to join its Ely branch. This is a permanent full-time role within a well-known high street services business. The position suits someone with strong sewing and alteration ability, a customer-focused attitude, and the flexibility to work across multiple Johnsons branches when needed.
Pay and hours
The starting rate is £12.75 per hour, rising to £12.80 per hour after a successful trial period. There is also the chance to earn an uncapped weekly bonus. The role is for 40 hours a week across 5 days, including weekends, and overtime may be available once fully trained.
What you will do
You will support the Area Manager and the local branches by delivering repair and alteration services. The job combines hands-on tailoring work with direct customer interaction in branch.
Key duties
- Carry out a wide range of garment alterations and repairs.
- Shorten and lengthen clothing of different types.
- Take in or let out garments to achieve the right fit.
- Replace damaged or broken zippers.
- Complete other general repair and alteration tasks as required.
- Shorten curtains when needed.
- Serve customers in branch, talk through their requirements, and assist with fittings.
- Deliver at least one act of kindness to a customer or colleague every day.
