About the Workplace

This position is based at Yaralla Place in Maryborough, Queensland, a well-kept heritage town located not far from Queensland’s beaches and Hervey Bay. The aged care home has 96 beds and is arranged into smaller household-style areas designed to feel like home, with shared lounge, dining and kitchen spaces, plus a private backyard for resident gardens and vegetable patches.

The Role

As a Support Services Worker, you will deliver the hospitality support needed in an aged care setting. The role covers catering, cleaning and laundry, while also helping create a welcoming home-like environment for residents. You will work closely with residents, families and care staff to support resident choice and improve quality of life in line with organisational values.

Key Duties

• Prepare and serve food and beverages for residents
• Support the chef with meal preparation, kitchen cleaning and general back-of-house tasks
• Deliver meals to residents and assist with dining room service
• Carry out cleaning duties across resident rooms and the wider facility
• Complete required records and incident/reporting documentation
• Keep handwashing products stocked and available
• Assist with laundry tasks, including checking and labelling items

What You Need

• A current NDIS Worker Clearance, or the willingness to obtain one, is essential
• Current legal working rights in Australia are required
• Previous experience in hospitality or customer service in a busy environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with good interpersonal ability
• A caring, empathetic approach
• Knowledge of resident rights and aged care accreditation standards and outcomes is an advantage, though not compulsory
