Advance Auto Parts is seeking a dedicated Store Driver to join our team in Truro, Nova Scotia. This full-time, onsite position involves ensuring timely and safe delivery of automotive parts to our valued customers. You will play a crucial role in customer relationship management, sales support, and maintaining store operations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Execute the picking, staging, and safe delivery of automotive parts to professional customers.
  • Manage the pickup of customer returns and core parts.
  • Distribute weekly and monthly sales flyers, actively promoting current sales and loyalty programs.
  • Handle daily collection of payments for credit accounts.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with MainStreet and National Pro customers, providing valuable insights from delivery interactions to the Commercial Program team.
  • Contribute to increasing average transaction value by assisting in upselling and cross-selling products.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, restrooms, product facing, dusting, and the parking lot.
  • Perform general stocking duties, including truck stocking, managing back stock, and conducting cycle counts.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive product knowledge, including new arrivals, to effectively assist customers with sales.
  • Engage with walk-in customers to understand their needs and recommend suitable parts or services.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by management.

Success Factors

  • Capability to efficiently locate and stock parts.
  • Strong safety knowledge and practical skills.
  • Experience operating inventory systems (Back stock) and store equipment.
  • Aptitude for sales and a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to accurately identify customer needs and propose effective solutions.

Essential Job Skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication in English (Spanish is a plus), fostering strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and leadership.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating manuals, parts catalogs, and procedural guides.
  • Accurate application of basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Flexibility to work various days, evenings, and weekends as required.
  • Confidence in engaging with customers and promoting products effectively.
  • A proactive willingness to learn about new products and sales methodologies.

Prior Experience

  • Previous experience in the automotive parts sector is advantageous.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.

Physical Demands

Employees will primarily be walking or standing. The role requires the ability to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers for handling or feeling objects. Reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling are also necessary. Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds is expected, with occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This role is primarily performed indoors, with occasional outdoor work exposed to various weather conditions during tasks like battery and wiper blade installations. Employees may also encounter moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock risks, explosives, and vibration. The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate.
