Job description
Role overview
The Senior Structural Engineer will provide specialized structural engineering support for the project, making sure all structural work follows the approved drawings, technical specifications, and contract obligations.
Reporting to the Design Manager and working under Technical Coordinators, this role covers review of structural shop drawings and materials, support for as-built records, handling RFIs, Technical Queries (TQs), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), as well as site inspections and technical reporting tied to structural activities.
What you will do
- Offer daily structural engineering assistance on site and resolve construction questions, RFIs, and technical clarifications.
- Check structural work in progress against approved drawings, specifications, mock-ups, and samples.
- Spot site-related structural issues, deviations, and non-conformances, then help drive their closure with the Design Manager and Technical Coordinators.
- Work with architectural, MEPF, façade, and fit-out teams to reduce clashes and execution conflicts.
- Support inspections, snagging, and quality assessments for structural works and finishes.
- Review structural shop drawings, submittals, material samples, and method statements to confirm alignment with the approved design intent and specifications.
- Provide clear technical comments that help keep approvals moving and construction on schedule.
- Confirm that approved shop drawings and materials are properly implemented in the field.
- Assist in preparing, checking, and validating structural as-built drawings and related records.
- Help Technical Coordinators monitor structural submissions and close review comments.
- Draft and support responses to RFIs, TQs, and other site clarifications related to structural works.
- Assist in investigating, documenting, and closing structural NCRs, observations, and quality concerns.
- Recommend practical structural fixes for site issues, subject to review and approval by the Design Manager.
- Keep accurate technical records and decisions in line with project procedures.
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers on all structural matters.
- Attend site coordination meetings and progress reviews when needed.
- Ensure structural information is communicated clearly through approved project processes.
- Share lessons learned on structural detailing, constructability, and site execution.
- Support and guide junior engineers and site personnel through mentoring and technical advice.
- Encourage best practices in structural construction quality and execution.
Experience and knowledge required
This position is intended for professionals with strong experience in design-and-build construction environments and multidisciplinary coordination across both design and site delivery stages.
A suitable candidate should bring 10 to 12 years of relevant engineering experience in design, construction, or design-and-build projects, along with hands-on exposure to design drawings, shop drawings, and technical submissions.
The role also calls for a solid understanding of building systems and how architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines interact. Strong command of technical documentation, review processes, and engineering coordination workflows is expected.
Excellent written and spoken English is required.
Education and certification
- A bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related engineering field is required.
- A master’s degree will be considered a plus.
- Professional or engineering licensure/certification is beneficial but not compulsory.
Technical skills
- Competence in engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination platforms.
- Strong grasp of design coordination, buildability, and the design-to-construction process.
- Ability to manage technical logs, trackers, and document control systems in a common data environment.
- Good analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and attention to technical detail.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working across project teams and engineering disciplines.
