Senior Process Engineer

Key responsibilities

• Apply practical and innovative methods to address work that must progress out of sequence, including use of newer approaches and technologies where useful.
• Support the Lead Engineer in tracking quality-related activities and step in with corrective action when needed.
• Help the project team with documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets, and schedules.
• Own process design work and manage design changes while staying within budget and schedule limits.
• Join weekly process discipline meetings, prepare status updates, and follow the required review and checking process.
• Assess technical problems, compare alternative solutions, and present recommendations through formal project documents such as technical queries and technical deviations.
• Compile final project documentation with all required information and work toward client approval.
• Review technical documents to support teammates and review/approve work completed by direct reports when required.
• Assess emerging technologies against current design standards and update standards where appropriate.
• Evaluate new technology developments that may improve cost efficiency of facilities.
• Deliver discipline-specific engineering support, including scope change identification, studies and analysis, detailed design work, drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and assistance during procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Follow personal safety and safe-work practices, comply with occupational health and safety procedures, and actively promote health, safety, and environmental awareness.

Industry experience

The role requires process design experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas projects, specifically in brownfield environments with emphasis on rotating equipment. Strong FEED and detailed engineering experience is essential, and experience in an engineering consultancy working across multiple disciplines is also required.

Education and professional qualifications

A full-time bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university is required. MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is mandatory; candidates without it must be prepared to obtain it during the probation period. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or active progress toward it, will be an advantage.

Technical tools

The position involves working with process simulation and flow assurance tools such as Aspen suite, Hysys, Pipesys, FlareNet, PRO-II, PipeNet, Pipesim, PVTSim/OLGA, PipePhase, TLNET, and Fathom.
