Job description

CampfireFM is a new home for podcasts and podcasters. We bring together distribution, community, and monetisation – creating a space where podcasts aren't just listened to, but discovered, discussed, and experienced interactively. Listeners can follow their favourite shows, become part of their communities, and directly support the creators they love.
We’re currently looking for a Senior Android Engineer from or close to Berlin with deep native Android experience, strong engineering fundamentals, and excitement about modern AI-assisted development workflows.
Tasks

Build and maintain our native Android application with us
Work on media-heavy and real-time social mobile experiences
Contribute to a fast-moving, highly iterative engineering culture with weekly releases
Use modern AI tooling and agent-based coding workflows in day-to-day development

Requirements

5+ years of native Android development experience with Kotlin (especially concurrency and architecture)
Experience in deployment tooling (Play Store, GitHub Actions) is a plus
Strong experience in modern AI-assisted development workflows (agentic coding)
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Fluency in English (required), German is a very big plus
We value deep technical discussion when it meaningfully improves outcomes — but you should also know when to optimize for execution, speed, and product progress instead.
We’re especially interested in people who actively build outside of work. Please include things like open source contributions and GitHub repositories, side projects or personal apps, hardware projects, technical writing (e.g. blog posts), community or forum contributions, tools, infrastructure, or systems you’ve built
You currently live in Germany (must) and in or close to Berlin (big plus)
Podcast nerds are especially welcome

Benefits

A small, senior and passionate team of less than 20 people
High expectations for ownership and impact in a small, highly technical team
Fast decision-making and minimal bureaucracy
AI-first engineering culture combined with technical judgment and pragmatism
Opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a growing product

Please apply with your CV and a cover letter. Tell us why you want to work with CampfireFM and share at least one idea on how to improve our app.
Please also state anything that is not in your CV, but demonstrates your engineering mindset and how you build things.
