Role overview
The Research Analyst will support the IT-Non-IT Workgroup (ITW) inside the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) by delivering research, analysis, and reporting that help guide decisions. The position focuses on assisting both funded and unfunded IT and non-IT initiatives and working with multiple stakeholders to keep projects moving in line with VHA priorities.
What you'll do
- Collect and study data related to IT and non-IT initiatives, then turn complex findings into practical recommendations.
- Prepare clear reports, briefing materials, and status updates for ITW leadership, stakeholders, and VHA executive leaders.
- Help build project plans, timelines, deliverables, and KPIs for work under ITW.
- Coordinate meetings and briefings, including the logistics and communication needed to keep stakeholders aligned.
- Maintain accurate records of research results, project progress, and meeting notes so project materials remain easy to find and trace.
- Support the advancement of IT and non-IT initiatives while keeping them aligned with VHA strategic goals and governance requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Research, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Healthcare Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in research and data analysis, ideally in healthcare or government settings.
- Prior acquisition and budget experience with a federal agency is required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to convert data into insights that support leadership decisions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint, along with data analysis software.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Preferred background includes familiarity with IT and non-IT project funding processes within the VHA or other federal organizations.
- Knowledge of the New Service Request (NSR) and Multi-Year Programming (MYP) processes is preferred.
