The hiring company is a long-established construction contractor operating in the west of Ireland. It is currently looking to add a Quantity Surveyor and a Senior Quantity Surveyor to its Galway team.

Role overview

This position is centered on managing surveying and commercial duties across contracts, with the senior version of the role carrying responsibility for leading the full QS function, protecting commercial outcomes, and guiding the wider surveying team.

Key responsibilities

• Take the lead in day-to-day surveying activities on assigned contracts.
• Oversee the full quantity surveying function from start to finish.
• Handle valuations, variations, and final account preparation.
• Work to maximize contract profitability at every stage.
• Safeguard the company’s commercial position and interests.
• Represent and strengthen the profile of the quantity surveying function in the region.
• Direct and support the surveying team in its daily operations.
• Recruit, coach, manage, and motivate surveying staff while building their capability.
• Maintain a strong focus on cost management, recovery opportunities, and commercial efficiency.
• Build and sustain effective relationships with clients and design teams.
• Help create a supportive environment both on site and in the office.
• Promote safe working methods and compliance with health, safety, and welfare systems.

Candidate profile

The employer is seeking someone with a degree in Quantity Surveying and at least 5 years of experience working as a QS. Prior experience managing or supervising other quantity surveyors is also required.
