Job description
Role Overview
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for putting quality assurance and quality control practices into action at project locations. This role focuses on making sure site activities follow contract conditions, approved drawings, technical specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
Quality Planning and Implementation
- Apply the project QA/QC plan at site and track its execution against contractual obligations.
- Confirm that construction and installation work is being carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, standards, and codes.
Inspection and Testing
- Carry out and witness inspections for civil, electrical, and mechanical activities depending on the project scope.
- Check the quality of DC and AC electrical installations, including cable laying, terminations, earthing, ACDB/DCDB units, inverters, and connected systems.
- Review and witness testing activities such as IR tests, continuity checks, earth resistance tests, concrete cube tests, and material tests.
Material Quality Control
- Examine incoming materials to confirm they match approved makes, technical requirements, and supporting test certificates.
- Track Material Inspection Reports and ensure materials are stored and handled appropriately.
Documentation and Records
- Develop and keep updated ITPs, checklists, inspection reports, test documents, and quality logs.
- Maintain documentation needed for audits, client reviews, and final project handover.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings and the final quality dossier.
Non-Conformance and Corrective Action
- Spot quality gaps and issue Non-Conformance Reports where needed.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions until closure.
- Contribute to root cause analysis when repeated quality issues arise.
Coordination and Client Interface
- Work closely with site engineers, contractors, and QA/QC teams to close quality-related issues.
- Join client inspections, audits, and quality review discussions.
- Ensure project delivery stays aligned with client quality expectations.
Compliance and Improvement
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
- Assist in internal and external quality audits.
- Recommend process improvements to improve construction quality and reduce rework.
Qualification and Experience
The role requires a Bachelor’s or Diploma in Engineering, preferably in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical disciplines, along with 8 to 12 years of experience in QA/QC engineering. Experience in solar, renewable energy, or EPC projects is preferred.
Key Skills
Strong understanding of QA/QC systems, inspection methods, documentation practices, and relevant IEC/IS standards is important. The position also calls for the ability to read drawings and specifications accurately, along with strong coordination, reporting, and client communication skills.
