New Horizons is the Treasure Coast’s leading provider of mental health and addiction recovery services, supporting the community through inpatient crisis care, a 24-hour helpline, mobile response services, and outpatient programs across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties. Role Overview
The Quality Improvement (QI) Assistant will contribute to quality assurance, compliance, continuous improvement, and administrative operations across the organization. This position helps keep documentation, follow-ups, committee activity, audits, and safety-related processes organized and on track, while also supporting operational matters such as workers’ compensation follow-up and compliance-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Check reports, records, and tracking tools to confirm they are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Update logs, spreadsheets, trackers, and other systems used for quality assurance and compliance monitoring.
- Assist with tracking incidents, grievances, audits, and the resulting follow-up work.
- Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes, and follow through on action items.
- Support chart reviews, monitoring activities, and preparation for accreditation or regulatory reviews.
- Carry out routine facility walkthroughs to spot documentation, signage, environmental, or compliance concerns.
- Help gather data, prepare reports, and support quality improvement projects.
- Provide assistance with safety matters, workers’ compensation follow-up, and operational tasks.
- Offer general administrative and department support when needed.
- Work with different departments to support compliance and quality initiatives organization-wide.
Requirements
Education: An associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Human Services, Quality Improvement, Communications, or a similar field is preferred. A bachelor’s degree is also preferred. Equivalent professional experience may be accepted instead of formal education. Candidate must pass a Level 2 background screening through DCF and the AHCA Clearinghouse.
Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience is preferred in quality assurance, compliance, risk management, healthcare administration, behavioral health, administrative support, operations, or a similar area. Internship or entry-level exposure in healthcare operations, quality improvement, compliance, risk management, or administrative support will also be considered. Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, nonprofit, or other service-based settings is an advantage.
Other requirements: The role calls for a detail-focused professional who can maintain confidentiality and professionalism, stay organized, communicate clearly, follow up consistently, and handle several priorities in a fast-paced environment. The position also requires the ability to walk throughout the facility, complete routine walkthroughs, and occasionally move or lift items weighing up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic tracking/reporting tools is preferred.
