Position overview

CLMI Group is hiring a Project Manager for Planning & Development to support the Facilities Services Division Maintenance & Operations program for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) in Los Angeles. This role is responsible for guiding projects through the early planning and delivery stages, including pre-construction, development, bid/award, and final close-out.

The position partners with design professionals, public agencies, and district stakeholders to ensure assigned projects remain aligned with the approved scope, schedule, and budget from start to finish. The work centers on educational modernization and Maintenance & Operations projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all stages of assigned projects, from pre-construction and development through bid/award and close-out.
  • Collaborate with the design team to keep work aligned with the originally approved project scope.
  • Prepare updates, summaries, and status reports for senior leadership on project progress.
  • Work with relevant public agencies, utility providers, and government bodies to satisfy applicable federal and state requirements and maintain project momentum.
  • Track project budgets each month and confirm that financial records accurately reflect current project status.
  • Address and resolve complex issues, disputes, and disagreements related to planning, design, and construction.
  • Review project health and overall progress to ensure scope remains within the approved definition.
  • Support the team with contract preparation, bidding, and contract planning activities.
  • Apply program policies and procedures, recommend improvements, and carry out approved changes.
  • Assess new developments and methods that may affect program goals and outcomes.
  • Coordinate with technical staff to estimate costs for building and alteration work.
  • Take on additional duties as needed.

Experience requirements

  • At least 10 years of full-time paid professional experience managing public, educational, or commercial projects, with responsibility for coordinating complex work from project inception through planning, design, development, and close-out.
  • Experience handling multiple projects at the same time is required.
  • Experience with educational modernization projects is preferred.

Education and qualification requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, ideally in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • A valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential may be accepted in place of the degree requirement.
  • Applicants who do not meet the education requirement may qualify through a year-for-year experience substitution, provided they can demonstrate strong proficiency in the stated duties.

Compensation and benefits

The offered salary range for this role is $140,000 to $145,000, with final compensation determined by non-discriminatory factors such as education, qualifications, experience, and location.
