Job description
Role summary
A specialist contractor based in Avonmouth, Bristol is seeking a Project Coordinator to help drive the smooth delivery of construction projects from the Bristol head office. The role is central to day-to-day project execution and involves close coordination with Project Managers, suppliers and operational colleagues to keep work moving on schedule and properly supported.
This is a varied, well-organised position that gives broad exposure to the full project lifecycle. It is well suited to someone with solid administration, coordination and communication strengths who wants to develop a long-term career in construction.
Key duties
- Support the delivery of assigned projects from early-stage planning through to final completion.
- Request and compare quotations for materials from suppliers.
- Prepare purchase orders for materials, labour, plant and equipment.
- Keep project schedules up to date and circulate programme changes.
- Arrange deliveries, collections and other logistics needs.
- Maintain registers for plant and equipment.
- Track material lead times and expected delivery dates.
- Work closely with Project Managers to provide progress updates.
- Handle project administration and maintain associated paperwork.
- Create material schedules and project job packs.
- Deal with invoice discrepancies and supplier-related issues.
- Keep project records and management systems accurate and current.
- Monitor project actions and follow through to deadlines.
- Develop effective working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assist with internal meetings and prepare minutes when needed.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in a Project Coordinator, Project Administrator or Construction Administrator role. Experience in construction, engineering or manufacturing environments is preferred, along with confidence in handling several priorities at once.
You should be highly organised, accurate and comfortable working in a busy team setting. Strong communication and relationship-building ability is important, as is a practical understanding of procurement and project administration. Good IT skills and experience with project management software are also essential, alongside a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
