Job description
Job Summary
UCC Holding is looking for an accomplished Procurement Engineer to support project execution through end-to-end purchasing and subcontracting activities. The role is best suited to someone with a solid track record in civil, construction, fit-out, or architectural environments, and it focuses on obtaining the right materials and services at the right cost, while keeping specifications, budgets, and timelines on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle the full RFQ/RFP cycle and assess supplier and subcontractor submissions from both commercial and technical perspectives.
- Identify, review, and shortlist suppliers and subcontractors based on quality, competitiveness, and dependability.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, payment terms, delivery timing, and contractual conditions to secure project value.
- Work in coordination with project managers, engineers, and site personnel to align procurement plans with project needs and schedules.
- Draft comparative analyses, procurement updates, and recommendation documents for approval purposes.
- Track procurement timelines and help ensure materials, equipment, and services arrive on schedule.
- Research the market to find new suppliers, materials, and opportunities for cost reduction.
- Keep supplier records, procurement files, and material tracking documents current and accurate.
- Address procurement issues such as late deliveries, shortages, quality problems, and supplier performance concerns.
- Make sure all procurement work follows company procedures, contract obligations, and project requirements.
- Assist with budget discipline by spotting value engineering and other cost-saving options.
- Develop and sustain productive relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
- Between 5 and 8 years of procurement experience in the construction sector, ideally with main contractors.
- Background in residential, commercial, hospitality, fit-out, and civil construction projects.
- Good knowledge of construction materials, subcontracting scopes, procurement workflows, and contract administration.
- Strong capability in negotiation, analysis, and resolving problems.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Able to perform well under pressure, juggle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic, written and spoken, is essential.
