Role overview

This hybrid opportunity is for a Private Equity Valuation Analyst based in Chicago, IL. The position focuses on quarterly fair value work for private equity holdings and supports decision-making through detailed analysis, documentation, and committee presentations.

Compensation and benefits

The annual compensation for this role is between $120,000 and $140,000, with bonus potential. Benefits include medical, vision, dental, life, and disability coverage.

Key responsibilities

You will take ownership of the end-to-end quarterly valuation process for private equity investments while staying aligned with ASC 820 and internal policies. The role requires applying the right valuation approach across different asset classes, including equity stakes and other alternative financial assets. You will also develop, update, and improve valuation and financial models that track portfolio company performance and support fair value assessments. In addition, you will prepare quarterly valuation memos, supporting schedules, and presentation materials for review by the Valuation Committee, and partner with investment professionals to understand portfolio performance and shape fair value conclusions.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a closely related discipline. A minimum of 2 years of practical valuation experience is required, ideally gained at an investment bank, buy-side investment manager, or a dedicated valuation firm or practice. The role also calls for strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to construct and defend complex valuation models, along with a solid understanding of ASC 820 fair value requirements and common valuation techniques.
