Role Overview
CV Resources is supporting a private equity firm in hiring a highly analytical and self-driven Private Equity Associate or Senior Private Equity Associate. The role spans the full investment journey, from sourcing opportunities and reviewing financials to executing transactions, monitoring portfolio companies, and planning exits.
The associate will collaborate with senior investors and company leadership to assess opportunities, build robust financial models, and contribute to value creation across the portfolio.
The preferred background is direct experience in private equity or investment banking, with a track record in lower middle-market or middle-market transactions.
Transaction Execution and Due Diligence
- Support and lead due diligence work for acquisitions, recapitalizations, and divestitures on both the buy-side and sell-side.
- Examine historical financial statements, operating data, and performance metrics to judge the attractiveness of investments.
- Manage outside diligence specialists such as quality of earnings, tax, legal, insurance, and commercial advisors.
- Assess diligence findings to surface risks, upside potential, and value-creation ideas.
- Assist with purchase agreement negotiations, deal structuring, and closing activities.
Financial Modeling and Investment Analysis
- Create and update detailed models including LBO, DCF, merger, operating, and valuation models.
- Run scenario, sensitivity, and returns analyses to test investment outcomes.
- Review capital structures, financing alternatives, and transaction economics.
- Prepare investment committee materials, presentations, and decision recommendations for leadership.
Portfolio Management
- Track portfolio company performance against the original investment thesis and operating plan.
- Review monthly and quarterly financial results, operating metrics, and key business drivers.
- Work with management teams on efficiency improvements, cost savings, and growth initiatives.
- Assist with add-on acquisition analysis and integration planning.
Market Research and Deal Sourcing
- Analyze industries, markets, and the competitive landscape.
- Research potential acquisition targets and support origination efforts.
- Help shape investment theses and evaluate new market opportunities.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline is required.
- An MBA, CFA, or similar advanced qualification is considered an advantage.
- 2 to 8 years of relevant experience in private equity or investment banking is required.
- Hands-on exposure to lower middle-market or middle-market transactions is necessary.
- A solid understanding of buy-side and sell-side M&A processes is expected.
- Experience with financial due diligence and transaction analysis is important.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities, including LBO work, are required.
- The role calls for excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to handle several transactions at once in a fast-moving environment is needed.
Preferred Background
- Direct exposure to lower middle-market and middle-market private equity investing.
- Experience working with portfolio company operations and value creation initiatives.
- Prior involvement in investment committee decks and executive-level presentations.
- Familiarity with quality of earnings reports, working capital analysis, and transaction structuring.
