Packaging Operator

Position Summary

The Packaging Operator supports the packaging line by running equipment safely and efficiently while helping products consistently meet quality, food safety, and production expectations. The role includes checking packaging output, keeping records up to date, monitoring machinery, and contributing to an orderly and safe production area.

Key Responsibilities

• Run packaging machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
• Make sure bags are clean and correctly placed on the packaging line.
• Carry out quality inspections to confirm product weight and packaging requirements are met.
• Watch packers, metal detectors, and related equipment to ensure they function properly.
• Do routine cleaning and simple maintenance on packaging machines and connected systems.
• Remove spills and keep the work area tidy and well organized.
• Keep accurate records of production and line activities.
• Track packaging supplies and report when materials are running low.
• Support production work and step in for the Packaging Lead when needed.
• Follow all workplace safety, food safety, quality, and environmental rules.
• Complete other assigned tasks as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification, along with basic mechanical ability and troubleshooting experience. A minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing setting is required. Familiarity with packaging systems and production workflows is important, as is knowledge of ISO, HACCP, GMP, and environmental standards. Basic understanding of integrated pest management practices is also expected. Strong communication, teamwork, and a firm commitment to safety are essential. The role also requires flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and on-call schedules.

Working Conditions

This job is based in a manufacturing environment that can be hot, noisy, and dusty. It involves long periods of standing and walking, along with climbing, crawling, working at heights, and lifting loads of up to 50 lbs. Regular presence in production and manufacturing areas is part of the role.
