Job description

Role Overview

The Packaging Material Planner will be responsible for ensuring packaging materials are available in the right quantities and at the right time to support production needs. This role focuses on balancing supply and demand, protecting service levels, and minimizing inventory inefficiencies across locally sourced and imported materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and run replenishment plans for packaging materials using production forecasts and demand requirements as the basis.
  • Keep a close watch on stock levels to maintain sufficient coverage without building unnecessary excess inventory.
  • Handle both local and imported packaging supplies while taking lead times and supply limitations into account.
  • Work in sync with Procurement, Production Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and external suppliers to secure uninterrupted material flow.
  • Spot supply risks, potential shortages, and situations that could interrupt production, then take action early to reduce impact.
  • Review slow-moving, aging, and vulnerable stock and apply corrective measures where needed.
  • Contribute to S&OP and demand review discussions by assessing material availability and related constraints.
  • Keep planning settings, safety stock levels, reorder points, and master data accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor how suppliers perform against delivery commitments and escalate urgent supply concerns when necessary.
  • Support initiatives that improve inventory efficiency and reduce working capital tied up in stock.
  • Prepare regular reports and KPI updates covering inventory health, service performance, aging stock, and material availability.

Preferred Education

A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, or a closely related discipline is preferred. APICS/CPIM certification will be considered an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in material planning, supply planning, inventory management, or supply chain planning.
  • Prior exposure to FMCG or food manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience managing packaging materials and coordinating with suppliers is expected.
  • Experience with ERP platforms is required, and SAP experience is preferred.

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of SAP planning and inventory management tools.
  • Solid understanding of MRP and supply planning processes.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a proactive mindset toward risk prevention.
