Job description

Job Summary

Alsco Uniforms is seeking an Office Clerk to join their team in Surrey, British Columbia. Reporting to the Office Manager, this role is responsible for the daily processing of company business transactions. The position may involve various clerical tasks such as keypunching for routes, filing, and customer service, with flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Accurate and timely computer data entry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in-person and over the phone.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Outlook and Excel for reporting.
  • Participation in office training and cross-training in various office functions.
  • Management of customer master data, customer billing, branch item maintenance, daily revenue calculation, daily branch journal, fixed asset reports, accrual reconciliations, property and sales tax reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Printing and organizing daily paperwork for routes, operating a postage meter, performing computer backups, and handling customer billing.
  • Filing of documents.

Additional Functions

  • Performing other office functions as required.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with computers.
  • Previous experience in data entry and working with spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word; PowerPoint skills are considered an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English, with the capacity to understand and follow directions.

Education

  • High school graduation or equivalent business experience is required.

Typical Physical Activity

  • The role involves sitting and standing within the office environment. Activities include walking, sitting, talking, hearing, speaking, pulling, pushing, occasional lifting of boxes up to 25 lbs, filing, stooping, reaching, and fine dexterity.

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • This position is located in an industrial laundry facility. While the employee will work in typical indoor office settings, there may be exposure to variations in temperature, odors, humidity, lint, and dust if near the plant areas.

  • No travel is required for this position.
