Role Overview

This position is for a motivated Multi-Skilled Plant Operator to support road building and upkeep across the region. The role reports to the Road Construction and Maintenance Supervisor and is focused on the safe, effective use of plant and equipment on construction and maintenance works.

Key Duties

  • Carry out road maintenance, road construction, structures, concrete work, and other general operational tasks.
  • Operate plant in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.
  • Complete general labouring duties connected to road construction and maintenance activities.
  • Keep accurate records of daily work performed.

What You Will Need

The council is looking for someone resilient, flexible, and comfortable working outdoors in a hands-on environment. A strong safety mindset, attention to detail, and a collaborative attitude are important, along with alignment to the council’s values of respect, communication, fun and humour, pride, trust, and teamwork.

Essential Qualifications

  • Certificates of competency for backhoe, roller, and/or loader operation.
  • Current MC class driver’s licence.
  • Current General Construction Induction Card.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience operating a road train, side tipper, and/or float or low loader.
  • Skills in traffic management implementation.
  • Additional certificates of competency relevant to road construction and maintenance work.
