Mill Assistant

Role overview

The Mill Assistant position in Abu Dhabi supports finishing-line operations in a government client environment, with payroll handled by Sundus. The assignment is for one year and can be renewed. The role is focused on safe, traceable handling of finished material, especially in the cold shear and bundling areas, so production continues smoothly and product identification remains accurate.

Key duties

• Help with size and pass change activities and use shift delays productively.
• Keep the cooling bed moving efficiently so bars do not overlap, pile up, or become stuck.
• Support the safe removal and handling of short bars in the cold shear zone.
• Tag rebars and bundles correctly, ensuring each item carries the right identification details.
• Separate and manage tags carefully so size, grade, and heat number are never mixed up.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and obstruction-free workplace in line with 5S practices.
• Follow supervisor directions, safety instructions, quality standards, and HSE requirements at all times.
• Carry out tagging support, short-bar assistance, or housekeeping tasks as assigned by the shift supervisor.
• Contribute to a positive safety culture by taking part in safety initiatives and encouraging safe work habits.
• Support safety risk control, equipment monitoring, and performance improvement efforts.
• Comply with EHS legal requirements and the company’s EHS policies, procedures, and standards, including expectations for team members and contractors.

Experience and background

This role requires at least 2 years of experience in the same field. A High School qualification is the minimum educational requirement. The job is based in Abu Dhabi and follows a 6-day working week.

Additional requirements

Candidates should bring strong safety awareness, be comfortable working as part of a team, and have knowledge of gas cutting operations.

Job Code: 6054. The position is a full-time onsite assignment with a contract length of 1 year, extendable based on requirement and performance.
