Job description

Company Overview

Boathouse started in 1973 in St. Catharines, Ontario, as a Canadian-owned retailer originally known as Arlies. The business was built around active-lifestyle apparel and gear for outdoor and sports customers, and it has since expanded to more than 80 locations across Canada under the Boathouse name. The company also runs Blackwell Supply Company, a national chain of lifestyle footwear stores. Its stores feature well-known brands such as Vans, Billabong, Converse, Champion, Adidas, Fila, Puma, Obey, RVCA, and Volcom, and the work environment is centered on trend-driven merchandise and strong customer experience.

Role Summary

This full-time, on-site position is based in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The Management Staff member helps keep store operations running smoothly and supports the team in delivering a consistent retail experience. The role includes handling daily opening and closing tasks, managing cash, supporting visual merchandising, and overseeing inventory-related activities. In addition, the position involves guiding team members on sales approach, product knowledge, and customer service expectations to help the store meet its targets.

Key Duties

The role also contributes to scheduling, monitors staff performance, and helps maintain a store environment that is safe, clean, and inviting. Management Staff work alongside store leadership to carry out promotions, follow company procedures, and uphold brand standards across the location.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have experience with retail floor operations, including point-of-sale systems, cash management, and basic inventory tracking. Prior exposure to leadership in a retail or hospitality setting is considered an advantage, especially in a supervisor or key-holder role.

Additional Requirements

This job calls for strong people-management ability, including coaching staff, supervising shifts, and resolving conflicts when needed. The ideal candidate should also have solid customer service and sales skills, with the ability to connect with shoppers, understand their needs, and suggest suitable products.

Good organizational ability is important, including time management, prioritizing tasks, and staying detail-oriented in a busy setting. Clear communication is required for both customer interactions and written updates to the team. The schedule must be flexible, with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. A genuine interest in lifestyle, streetwear, and footwear brands will help with learning product information quickly. The position may involve standing for long periods and lifting merchandise as part of normal store operations.
