Where you'll work

Job description

Overview

This role supports a school setting by keeping the site safe, tidy, and well maintained. You will help ensure the building, grounds, and vehicles are in good working order so the school remains a positive place for young people.

What you will do

The position involves carrying out routine repairs and general maintenance across the site, looking after school vehicles, and helping to maintain the gardens and outdoor areas. You will also be a visible and approachable presence around the school, so training in child safeguarding will be provided to help you feel confident when interacting with pupils.

About the school

Hinckley House School is a modern SEMH primary school that opened in Autumn 2024. It is part of Witherslack Group and benefits from strong resources and support, with a focus on helping every child achieve the best possible outcomes.

Benefits

The role comes with a competitive salary and a strong benefits package, along with the chance to contribute to a purpose-driven education environment.

  • Full induction and practical on-the-job training
  • 35 days of holiday including bank holidays
  • Flexible benefits options, including the ability to adjust certain benefits such as life insurance
  • Wellbeing support tools, guidance, and employee assistance
  • Medical cover for eligible everyday health costs such as optician or dentist appointments, plus high-street discounts
  • Access to attractive school environments with excellent facilities
  • Refer-a-friend bonus of £1,000 for each successful recommendation

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with practical maintenance ability, whether gained professionally or through DIY work. A positive, helpful attitude and a willingness to work as part of a team are important. You should also be comfortable taking responsibility for purchasing smaller maintenance items and be open to health and safety training as well as other relevant learning.

Safeguarding and equal opportunities

The organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This position requires an enhanced DBS check, which will be paid for, and an online search. Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds, and the employer is an equal opportunities organisation.
