Position Overview

The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of facility maintenance at the hospital. This includes managing repairs for buildings, water systems, grounds, furniture, non-medical equipment, and waste management to ensure the hospital remains in optimal and safe condition. This role supports the Facility Manager/Director in maintaining seamless hospital operations and infrastructure, as well as coordinating building and construction projects.

Essential Duties

  • Assist in the planning, development, and execution of approved construction and renovation projects.
  • Implement and track maintenance strategies using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), supporting the team in achieving facility maintenance objectives.
  • Serve as the internal auditor for all tasks and work performed by external contractors.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation for internal building projects, including bills of quantities (BOQs), project plans, inspection reports, and handover reports.
  • Manage and maintain the CMMS, providing training to users and conducting annual audits to ensure data accuracy, collaborating with the Facility Manager/Director for corrections.
  • Lead and train the maintenance team on approved practices and procedures for effective facility and equipment upkeep.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with various hospital departments to ensure uninterrupted departmental operations and successful implementation of maintenance tasks.
  • Support the Facility Manager/Director in creating and implementing maintenance schedules for facilities and non-service-agreement equipment.
  • Monitor the inventory of all supplies, tools, and equipment assigned to the maintenance department, ensuring staff have and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), tools, and supplies.
  • Supervise casual laborers hired for internal building projects, ensuring they meet the hospital's employment policy standards.
  • Report on maintenance activities, achievements, and incidents to the Facility Manager/Director.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team on hands-on maintenance and construction tasks, including but not limited to buildings, water and wastewater systems, electrical systems, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE).
  • Oversee the repair of related tools and equipment, either with internal qualified personnel or external vendors.
  • Maintain an up-to-date electronic and physical file of equipment manuals and schematic diagrams.
  • Utilize proper safety equipment at all times during task execution.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding equipment, facilities, and their proper usage.
  • Report on the performance of the maintenance team to the Facility Manager/Director.
  • Prepare work schedules for supervised teams under the direction of the Facility Manager/Director.
  • Ensure the proper storage, issuance, upkeep, and management of all maintenance-related tools and hospital assets.
  • Be available for on-call duties, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures during all work activities, including the mandatory use of PPE.
