Job description

Role overview

This role sits within Engineering & Facilities at W Hotels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is a full-time, non-management position based onsite at the Al Aqeeq Street, Financial District location. The maintenance associate is expected to respond to guest repair needs, support the upkeep of hotel systems and equipment, and help ensure a safe, well-functioning environment for guests and colleagues.

What you'll do

  • Handle guest maintenance requests promptly and communicate clearly with guests while resolving issues.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Inspect tools, machines, and equipment visually to spot wear or problems.
  • Carry and use required equipment such as tools and radio communication devices.
  • Find and operate shut-off valves for equipment and building utility systems when needed.
  • Keep maintenance stock organized and request parts and supplies as required.
  • Share daily work updates and any issues with other shifts using approved communication methods.
  • Work on systems and tasks related to air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building upkeep, as knowledge allows.
  • Complete surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb changes, A/C filter replacement, and full cleanup after repair or painting work.
  • Test, diagnose, and perform basic repairs on plumbing, electrical, and guestroom-related items such as toilets, drains, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, and cosmetic fixtures.
  • Program televisions and support housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout process before starting maintenance work.
  • Repair interior and exterior landscaping features, including sprinkler systems.
  • Use basic computer functions for tasks such as entering air handler schedules and adjusting temperatures.
  • Follow company, safety, and security procedures, report hazards or incidents, complete required safety training, and store flammable materials correctly.
  • Maintain a polished personal appearance, protect confidential information, safeguard company property, and deliver courteous service to all guests, including those with disabilities.
  • Build positive working relationships, communicate professionally, and support the team in meeting shared goals.
  • Perform physically demanding duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier items with help, climbing stairs, service ramps, and ladders, and working in positions that require bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, and stooping.
  • Use computers to enter and retrieve work-related information and complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • Some background in general maintenance is preferred, especially surface preparation and painting work.
  • Experience in hotel engineering or hotel maintenance is considered an advantage.
  • No prior supervisory experience is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
