About the company

Laminex New Zealand is part of Fletcher Building’s Building Products division and is known for supplying trusted brands that help create high-quality design spaces. The business places strong emphasis on expertise, value, and a workplace culture where people feel welcomed, supported, and appreciated.

About the role

Laminex Taupō is looking for Maintainer Operators to join its manufacturing team. This is a practical, hands-on position focused on running, setting up, and maintaining plant equipment so production remains safe, efficient, and consistent. You will work closely with safety standards while managing machine settings, watching performance, making immediate adjustments, assisting with quality checks, solving equipment issues, and supporting forklift-related tasks to keep operations moving.

Shift pattern

The position follows a rotating roster of 4 days on and 4 days off, including 2 day shifts and 2 night shifts. This works out to an average 42-hour week.

Key duties

  • Operate, configure, and maintain production machinery and plant equipment.
  • Adjust machine settings and parameters to support smooth output.
  • Track machine performance and make timely changes when required.
  • Help with quality control checks during production.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment or process issues.
  • Carry out forklift duties as needed to support manufacturing activity.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working as a Maintainer Operator in a manufacturing setting, ideally in the wood-based industry.
  • Proven ability to run, set up, and fault-find on plant machinery.
  • Strong focus on health and safety, collaboration, and product quality.
  • Good basic computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and production/system interfaces.
  • Ability to learn quickly, apply technical understanding, and solve problems in a practical environment.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to use digital control systems with confidence.
  • Physically capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Class 1 full driver licence and OSH forklift licence are advantages.
  • Electrical or mechanical trade qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
  • Pre-employment medical testing and criminal history clearance are required for safety reasons.

What the employer offers

  • Thorough on-the-job training to help you succeed in the role.
  • Access to Fletcher Building benefits such as parental leave support, education fund grants for you and your immediate family, recognition programmes, and discounts with leading retailers.
  • A supportive, safety-led, and high-performing team environment.

Additional information

The employer encourages people from diverse backgrounds to apply, including women and minority groups who may be hesitant to apply unless they meet every listed requirement. The workplace values diversity and includes people from many nationalities, languages, religions, customs, and lifestyles.
