Role overview
The University of Faisalabad is looking for a committed, tech-savvy librarian to oversee library collections, services, and day-to-day operations. This position supports teaching, learning, and research by ensuring reliable access to quality information resources, efficient library systems, and well-managed digital and print collections.
Key duties
- Deliver programs, services, and learning resources that encourage students to participate meaningfully in social issues and support their overall well-being.
- Contribute to university projects such as the digital library and distance learning initiatives.
- Take part in choosing, purchasing, arranging, and preserving books, journals, and other collection items.
- Manage access to both physical and electronic resources in an organized and user-friendly way.
- Create and maintain a system for classifying library materials so students can locate and use holdings easily.
- Keep library equipment, holdings, and related resources in safe, orderly, and well-maintained condition.
- Arrange books on shelves according to subject-based classification.
- Set up seating in a way that maintains a quiet environment for users.
- Keep shelves and books clean and in good condition.
- Carry out routine care and repair of library equipment.
- Maintain records of library holdings, acquisitions, student registrations, and book issue/consultation transactions.
- Check older or unused books, periodicals, and other materials and coordinate their removal when necessary.
- Enter card records and other data into computer systems.
- Maintain discipline in the library and track all book lending activity.
- Send reminders to students for overdue book returns.
- Administer fines for late returns as per the library's rules, including a per-day charge after the due date.
Requirements
- MPhil or Master’s degree in Library & Information Science, with a specialization in Library Automation.
