Job description
Role Overview
Broadview Lifecare is seeking a Laundry Assistant to support residents through a dependable, well-run laundry service. This position is based in Whanganui, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand, and sits within an 85-bed care home and hospital, alongside a 27-unit village in a rural setting. The wider service offers five levels of care, including a Mental Health Recovery unit, creating a varied environment with strong learning potential.
Heritage Lifecare is a major aged care provider in New Zealand and operates a large network of care homes and villages across the country. The organisation describes itself as caring, supportive, and community-focused, with a diverse team and a culture built around empathy and collaboration.
Work Arrangement
This is a casual role, meaning work is provided on an as-needed basis rather than on a fixed regular schedule. Shifts may include mornings, afternoons, and weekends.
What You Will Do
You will be responsible for delivering an efficient and reliable laundry and dry-cleaning service for residents. The role calls for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and resident satisfaction, while contributing positively to a friendly care environment.
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in laundry work is preferred, though full training will be provided. The ideal candidate should be a strong communicator, comfortable working both independently and as part of a multi-skilled team, and physically capable of handling the demands of the job. Familiarity with health and safety, infection control, and privacy requirements is important, along with an understanding of Nga Paerewa sector standards and how Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles apply in the workplace.
Benefits
The organisation offers competitive pay aligned to skills and experience, opportunities to grow professionally, and a supportive team culture. The role also provides a chance to make a meaningful contribution to residents’ daily lives while working for one of New Zealand’s progressive aged care providers.
Additional Information
Applications close on 25 Jun 2026. Candidates should hold the legal right to work in New Zealand, as visa support may not be available for this position. Applications may be assessed as they are received, and interviews could occur before the closing date. The organisation also states its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
