Role Overview
ADDiTEC is looking for an early-career Junior Design Engineer to contribute to the creation, development, and recording of electro-mechanical systems and components. This position is a strong fit for a recent engineering graduate who has hands-on experience with CAD and 3D modeling and is eager to grow in technology development, prototyping, and testing.
What You Will Do
- Develop and update 3D part models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks.
- Support mechanical design tasks, prototype development, and new product initiatives.
- Assist with prototype assembly, verification, and test programs.
- Partner with senior engineers to diagnose design challenges and enhance product performance.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to move projects forward.
- Keep engineering records accurate and manage revision tracking carefully.
- Take part in design reviews and share ideas that improve the product.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Up to 2 years of engineering experience; internships and co-op experience are acceptable.
- Strong SolidWorks skills for modeling parts, building assemblies, and preparing drawings.
- Working knowledge of product design fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and tolerancing basics.
- Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Clear communication and the ability to work well in a team.
Preferred Background and Tools
- A practical, hands-on mindset toward design, testing, and mechanical evaluation.
- Exposure to 3D printing for prototypes or short-run parts.
- Some familiarity with electrical components and control systems, even at a basic level.
- Experience contributing to prototype builds and iterative design updates.
- Experience using MATLAB for analysis and data handling.
- Basic Python skills for scripting, automation, or data analysis.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Exposure to ANSYS for simulation or FEA work.
- Some understanding of CFD concepts.
Additional Preferred Experience
- Experience with metal additive manufacturing, including metal 3D printing.
- Background in machining, fabrication, or other prototyping techniques.
- Familiarity with PDM tools or engineering revision control systems.
