Role overview
The junior data scientist will work with large, complex datasets and apply strong quantitative thinking to generate insights that support intelligence-led decision-making and operational outcomes. This role involves close collaboration with analysts, engineers, and mission stakeholders.
What you will do
- Analyze data statistically and explore large datasets to uncover useful patterns and insights.
- Help design, test, and validate predictive models that identify trends.
- Support the creation of AI and machine learning solutions based on data.
- Carry out exploratory analysis to inform planning and decision-making.
- Assist with data pipelines used for collection, processing, and integration.
- Work alongside data scientists, engineers, and other teams to improve data processes.
- Write scripts and small tools that reduce manual work and improve productivity.
- Help strengthen data quality, organization, and accessibility.
- Use basic experimental and analytical methods to test ideas and measure results.
- Contribute to better data systems, workflows, and analytical capabilities.
- Identify data issues, gaps, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Join team discussions, meetings, and knowledge-sharing activities.
What you need
- A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
- Working knowledge of Python, R, SQL, or similar programming languages.
- Hands-on exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Solid understanding of statistical methods and modeling techniques.
- Basic familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts.
- Experience using relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Some knowledge of cloud-based big data technologies.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of intelligence analysis workflows and mission needs.
- Comfort working with both structured and unstructured data in demanding environments.
