Role overview

The junior data scientist will work with large, complex datasets and apply strong quantitative thinking to generate insights that support intelligence-led decision-making and operational outcomes. This role involves close collaboration with analysts, engineers, and mission stakeholders.

What you will do

• Analyze data statistically and explore large datasets to uncover useful patterns and insights.
• Help design, test, and validate predictive models that identify trends.
• Support the creation of AI and machine learning solutions based on data.
• Carry out exploratory analysis to inform planning and decision-making.
• Assist with data pipelines used for collection, processing, and integration.
• Work alongside data scientists, engineers, and other teams to improve data processes.
• Write scripts and small tools that reduce manual work and improve productivity.
• Help strengthen data quality, organization, and accessibility.
• Use basic experimental and analytical methods to test ideas and measure results.
• Contribute to better data systems, workflows, and analytical capabilities.
• Identify data issues, gaps, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Join team discussions, meetings, and knowledge-sharing activities.

What you need

• A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
• Working knowledge of Python, R, SQL, or similar programming languages.
• Hands-on exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Solid understanding of statistical methods and modeling techniques.
• Basic familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts.
• Experience using relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Some knowledge of cloud-based big data technologies.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of intelligence analysis workflows and mission needs.
• Comfort working with both structured and unstructured data in demanding environments.
