Role overview
The IT Data Scientist will work on open-ended research and complex data challenges, using advanced quantitative expertise to design new algorithms and analytical approaches. The role focuses on developing data-driven methods for machinery diagnostics, prognostics, and optimization of complicated systems.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate emerging technologies related to machinery health diagnostics, prognostics, and model-based optimization of complex systems.
- Bring strong hands-on knowledge of machine learning and population-based meta-heuristic optimization techniques.
- Develop original ideas, define new research directions, and drive technical projects from concept through execution.
- Stay current with advances in the field and actively contribute as a subject matter expert in technical reviews and discussions.
- Use theoretical and engineering knowledge to solve industrial and operational problems.
- Create data-driven algorithms for anomaly detection, failure forecasting, and optimization.
- Work closely with field and product engineering teams to identify important health-monitoring parameters.
- Handle and analyze large multivariate datasets gathered from equipment operations, manufacturing tests, and diagnostic workflows.
- Present ideas, plans, and findings clearly through both spoken and written communication.
Qualifications and requirements
- An advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, physics, statistics, or applied mathematics is expected.
- Ability to self-learn new technologies, build prototypes independently, and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong programming ability, preferably in Python.
- Solid grounding in linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
- Good understanding of machine learning and deep learning methods, including GenAI.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments and automating tasks with shell scripting.
- Basic awareness of cloud computing concepts and application development.
- Creative problem-solving mindset with the ability to define and solve problems independently.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong listening, presentation, and communication skills.
- Focused on delivering high-quality results.
- Additional advantage: experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch for computer vision, speech, or natural language processing use cases.
- Additional advantage: exposure to cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or Azure.
- Additional advantage: experience designing or building RESTful APIs.
- Additional advantage: web frontend experience using JavaScript, HTML5, Angular, and backend frameworks such as Django or FastAPI.
