Role overview

The Inventory Management Associate at Genser Energy Ghana Limited will be part of the Operations & Maintenance / Power function in Takoradi, Western Region, Ghana. This role sits at Sectional Head level and reports to the Plant Manager. The position focuses on keeping stock movement accurate, protecting inventory integrity, and ensuring supplies and equipment are received, stored, tracked, and issued without disruptions.

Primary purpose

The main objective of this position is to oversee the efficient handling of incoming goods, proper storage and release of materials and equipment, and accurate maintenance of stock records. The role also supports demand planning, helps avoid stock shortages, and ensures inventory data remains reliable and up to date.

Inventory control and stores management

  • Oversee the unloading and acceptance of goods and equipment delivered by suppliers.
  • Record stock movements in the inventory system, including receipts, storage entries, inter-location transfers, and returns.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and assist with comprehensive inventory audits to maintain accuracy.
  • Investigate and reconcile stock differences, then escalate any variances to the Inventory Superintendent.
  • Work with operational teams and the purchasing unit to anticipate inventory needs and maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Help keep stores, warehouses, and storage spaces arranged for safe handling, efficient use of space, and smooth operations.
  • Apply labels and tags to inventory items and equipment when required.
  • Prepare regular inventory reports for management and support review and analysis of the results.
  • Partner with the HS team to ensure full compliance with company safety rules and procedures relating to inventory handling.
  • Recommend practical improvements to inventory tracking and control processes.

Budgeting responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing the monthly budget.
  • Support monitoring of budget lines, including cost control and spending forecasts.
  • Help ensure planned budget use aligns with departmental activity schedules.

Team leadership and development

  • Supervise team members in delivering assigned projects on time and within budget.
  • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to staff development plans.
  • Coordinate leave planning for direct reports.

Qualifications and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Materials Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. The company also views multicultural exposure as an advantage, and ability in French or Chinese is an added benefit.

The role calls for at least 4 years of relevant experience in inventory management, ideally within a heavy engineering environment in the Oil & Gas sector. Strong capability with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is needed, along with familiarity with systems like Sage, SAP, and QuickBooks.
