Job description
Overview
This is a 12-month contracting opportunity based in Auckland CBD for an experienced Identity Engineer. The role is focused on helping modernise a large workforce identity environment, with a strong emphasis on practical delivery.
You will collaborate with Application Owners, Identity Architecture, and Security teams to improve identity integration across enterprise systems during cloud migration. A key part of the role is strengthening identity and access management controls, including identity governance.
What you'll work on
- Upgrade workforce identity capabilities and support cloud connectivity across enterprise platforms.
- Build and refine IAM controls, with a focus on identity governance.
- Work alongside security and architecture specialists to improve authentication, federation, and access standards.
- Help deliver secure access outcomes across the full identity lifecycle, including privileged access and access-risk management.
Experience and technical background
- Hands-on experience delivering end-to-end workforce identity solutions, not only advising on them.
- Working knowledge of privileged access management.
- Practical experience with federation technologies and patterns.
- Understanding of authentication standards and modern access controls.
- Awareness of access-risk concepts such as toxic access combinations.
- Demonstrated success delivering identity capabilities within wider enterprise programmes and platforms.
- Ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Environment
- Microsoft-based workforce identity landscape using Entra ID and Azure.
- Current user base is approximately 10,000 users.
- There may be future scope to broaden into customer identity as the capability evolves, potentially supporting around 500,000 users.
