They foster a supportive and positive work environment that celebrates the impactful work done daily, offering significant flexibility.

Job Summary

This is a full-time, individual contributor role ideal for an experienced HR professional passionate about continuous improvement and fostering a positive workplace culture. The HR Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees, independently overseeing core HR functions including employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, HR compliance, and process enhancement. Reporting to the Chief Administration Officer (CAO) and collaborating with the Senior Director of Administration (SDA), this role is crucial for ensuring equitable and engaging employee experiences for a hybrid team of 30 and a remote team of 50.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary HR point of contact for employee relations, managing performance concerns, conduct issues, and workplace conflicts with sound judgment and confidentiality.
  • Oversee the performance management process, guiding managers through discussions, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring consistent application of standards.
  • Coach managers and leaders on employee performance, conduct, and development, focusing on building their capabilities.
  • Conduct internal workplace investigations, maintain documentation, identify risks, and collaborate with leadership on resolutions.
  • Manage the complete employee offboarding process, including exit interviews, trend analysis, compliance, and final pay/benefits coordination.
  • Support performance management cycles and employee development initiatives in partnership with the CAO.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, from job postings and sourcing to screening, interview coordination, background checks, and ATS administration.
  • Consult with hiring managers to define job requirements, develop selection criteria, and implement equitable hiring practices.
  • Lead onboarding processes to ensure compliance, operational readiness, and a positive new hire experience.
  • Evaluate and improve recruiting and onboarding processes to enhance the candidate experience.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee records in HRIS, adhering to all legal requirements.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers on HR policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the SDA on leave of absence programs, workplace accommodations, and compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Analyze HR processes and data to identify and implement improvements.
  • Stay current on employment law and HR best practices, providing guidance to leadership.
  • Provide backup support for biweekly payroll processing.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding benefits and support open enrollment initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of comprehensive HR experience with proven ownership of key HR functions.
  • Strong knowledge of HR operations and best practices across various HR domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage employee relations, conduct investigations, and provide effective resolutions.
  • Experience in full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Understanding of multi-state employment laws and a proactive approach to seeking guidance.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and standard office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • HR certification (PHR or SHRM) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, mission-driven, or multi-state organization is preferred.
