Role Overview
The Housekeeper position reports to the Maintenance Director and plays a key part in keeping the community clean, safe, and pleasant for residents, employees, and guests. The role includes housekeeping and laundry tasks across resident apartments, shared spaces, restrooms, offices, and linens, all while following set procedures, schedules, and safety standards. This position also helps by replenishing supplies, flagging repair issues, and partnering with maintenance and other team members to maintain a healthy, welcoming setting.
Key Duties
- Carry out detailed cleaning work such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, doing laundry, and removing trash.
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules across apartments, common spaces, restrooms, and office areas.
- Gather soiled linens and handle laundering in line with rules designed to support resident and team health and hygiene.
- Sort, fold, and distribute clean laundry.
- Monitor stock levels, communicate supply or equipment needs to the supervisor, and replenish materials as needed.
- Coordinate with maintenance by reporting repair needs identified during the workday.
- Support clear communication between community staff and residents’ families regarding residents’ physical, personal, and emotional well-being.
- Work collaboratively, follow direction from management, take initiative, and help address conflicts involving residents, families, employees, or others when needed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Candidates should have at least a high school diploma or an equivalent credential. Prior housekeeping experience is desirable, and CPR or BLS certification is also preferred. Comfort using common digital tools is important, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word, along with web-based systems, electronic health record platforms, and any applicable HR systems.
Working Conditions
- The role may require extended periods of standing or walking throughout the community, including resident apartments and other areas.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing may be needed.
- Effective verbal and written communication, including reading and interpreting written information, is required.
- The job may involve lifting up to 50 pounds alone and up to 200 pounds with assistance.
- All infection prevention and control procedures must be followed, including proper use of PPE when necessary.
- Team participation is expected, with active involvement in activities that support morale, collaboration, and unity.
- Ongoing training and continued learning are required to stay current and improve skills.
