Job description
Role overview
This position is focused on frontline fire and medical emergency response, along with day-to-day support for fire department operations in and around the assigned area. The role includes staying prepared for rapid deployment, responding to fire incidents, emergency drills, and medical or related calls when dispatched. It also involves educating personnel and the public on fire prevention and safety, while supporting a range of departmental activities.
Key responsibilities
- Work as a collaborative team member and follow the LOGCAP V contract Performance Work Statement.
- Help maintain a safe working environment by putting safety first at all times.
- Follow Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Quality Assurance (QA) standards, objectives, and documentation practices.
- Keep emergency response equipment serviceable and ready in line with NFPA and similar industry requirements.
- Clean and maintain personal protective equipment, and support team cleaning of equipment and facilities.
- Assist with fire inspections, pre-incident planning, and the recording and tracking of safety-related documentation.
- Use computerized fire alarm receiving systems and two-way radio communication equipment.
- Carry out property control and logistics tasks, including equipment accountability, maintenance scheduling, subordinate appointment coordination, and other administrative support duties.
- Serve on rescue, ladder truck, engine, or water tender teams as assigned.
- Enter burning, contaminated, or otherwise immediately dangerous structures, vehicles, and areas to suppress fires and carry out rescues while wearing required protective gear.
- Support structural fire response, rescue operations, medical calls, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergencies according to department procedures.
- Contribute to organizational performance metrics and keep related data accurate and up to date.
- Provide direct support toward achieving LOGCAP V metrics.
- Attend meetings when the supervisor is unavailable or when needed.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with coworkers and others as required for job performance.
- Handle other assigned duties as needed.
- Understand that the role may be adjusted to meet program or company requirements.
Qualifications
Applicants should have the required firefighter certifications, including Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Driver Operator - Pumper, and First Aid/CPR-AED certification from AHA, ARC, or HSI. DoD, IFSAC, or Pro-Board credentials are acceptable for the listed certifications. A minimum of five years of firefighter experience on a DoD installation is preferred. The job may allow one year of related experience to substitute for one year of education where a degree is required. Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak English, pass Department of State vetting if applicable, meet DoS security requirements, complete the annual firefighter occupational health exam and SCBA fit testing under NFPA 1582 and 1583, and be available for recall.

This position is based in Doha, Qatar. Firefighters report to the Station Fire Captains, with the Assistant Fire Chief acting as the next level of supervision when needed, followed by the Fire Chief.
