Job Purpose

The firefighter role is focused on responding to aircraft-related and structural fire incidents, medical situations, hazardous material events, and other emergencies within the airport premises. The position exists to protect passengers, crew, and airport staff through fire suppression, rescue support, and emergency medical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • React quickly to aircraft emergencies, building fires, medical cases, hazardous material incidents, and other urgent situations on airport grounds.
  • Carry out firefighting, rescue operations, and basic emergency medical support to safeguard people and property.
  • Use appropriate fire suppression methods such as water, foam, dry chemical agents, and similar firefighting tools to control and extinguish fires.
  • Conduct search-and-rescue efforts in smoky, dangerous, or otherwise high-risk environments.
  • Deliver first aid and basic life support until specialized medical teams arrive.
  • Support the transfer of injured or unwell individuals to medical facilities when required.
  • Inspect and maintain firefighting vehicles, extinguishers, and personal protective equipment on a daily basis.
  • Track firefighting stock and equipment to ensure everything remains ready for immediate deployment.
  • Take part in emergency drills, routine simulations, and ICAO-required training exercises.
  • Keep accurate incident logs, training records, and shift documentation for review and audit purposes.
  • Follow all applicable local, state, and federal fire safety and emergency response rules, as well as internal SOPs.
  • Identify hazards during patrols and inspections and act promptly to reduce risk.
  • Prepare and submit clear reports for incidents, equipment status, and other required records.
  • Work closely with airport operations, medical teams, and outside emergency responders during incidents and drills.
  • Coordinate emergency activity with the Duty Manager, ATC, and other airport authorities when required.

Stakeholders

Internal: Duty Manager - ARFF, Airport Operations Team, Airport Security, Emergency Medical Services, ARFF Crew Members, Engineering & Maintenance Team, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Team.

External: Local Fire Services Department, Airlines Operating at the Airport, Ground Handling Companies, ARFF Equipment Manufacturers/Service Providers, Insurance Companies, Local Community Leaders, Civil Aviation Authorities.

Qualifications

A diploma in Fire Fighting Technology or an equivalent credential is needed. A certificate from a recognized firefighting academy is also mandatory.

Experience

Applicants should have 2 to 3 years of firefighting experience, ideally in aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) operations.
