Job description

About the Internship

This 12-week paid internship is designed for students who want hands-on exposure to major oil and gas projects while building practical skills in their area of study. The program is based in Perth, Australia, and offers a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative environment where interns can develop professionally.

The internship is part of a broader Neurodiversity Inclusion Program. Candidates who identify as neurodivergent, including people with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Tourette's and similar conditions, are encouraged to apply. Support and workplace accommodations are available throughout the program.

Engineering Stream

Interns in the engineering stream will work with specialist engineers to help solve technical issues that affect LNG plant performance and availability. The role includes collecting and analysing data to support offshore and onshore assets, while also learning how Chevron uses its processes and systems to evaluate practical and commercially sound solutions.

You will gain first-hand exposure to complex technical challenges and understand the wide range of engineering support needed to keep large-scale facilities operating efficiently and reliably.

Petroleum Engineering Stream

Interns in petroleum engineering will support an integrated subsurface team working on world-class operations. The placement involves assisting with reservoir and well performance reviews, helping field operations teams monitor and improve well performance and integrity, and learning about routine gas production well management.

You will also work with well condition monitoring and reservoir surveillance data, and see how this information influences both short-term and long-term business decisions. These roles will be based at Chevron’s new One The Esplanade building in Perth.

To qualify, applicants must be legally entitled to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis and be studying at tertiary level in one of the approved engineering disciplines, at any year level.

  • Alignment with Chevron’s values of diversity and inclusion, integrity and trust, high performance, partnership, and protecting people and the environment.

Benefits

Successful interns will receive direct exposure to industry-leading energy projects and the chance to build career-ready experience in a high-performing workplace. The program offers practical industry learning across Chevron Australia’s world-class energy production facilities.

Additional benefits include opportunities to expand engineering and energy-sector knowledge, a competitive pay package, and health and wellness support such as fitness classes, gym access, and mental health resources.
