Job Overview

Petrofac is seeking to hire an Engineer I - Projects to join their team in Sharjah, UAE. This role is responsible for overseeing project execution from contract review through to final delivery and close-out.

Primary Duties

  • Review contracts to understand scope of work, client obligations, schedules, and potential risks.
  • Prepare for and conduct kick-off meetings with clients, gathering necessary information from various departments.
  • Finalize the list of project deliverables in accordance with the contract, obtaining client approval.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure timely issuance of deliverables such as material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and purchase requisitions.
  • Monitor the progress of engineering deliverables like drawings, procedures, and calculations on a weekly basis, implementing corrective actions for any delays.
  • Liaise with the procurement team to track procurement activities and address any issues.
  • Organize and lead weekly progress review meetings with clients, discussing achievements, upcoming plans, and resolving outstanding issues.
  • Manage external company interfaces as required by the contract, facilitating the exchange of engineering documents and resolving queries.
  • Arrange and moderate post-award kick-off meetings with vendors, expediting and monitoring vendor deliverables against contractual requirements, purchase orders, and terms.
  • Ensure sub-orders align with supplier engineering and manufacturing schedules, monitoring deliveries and resolving operational issues that could impact timelines.
  • Identify risks and collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate delays and cost impacts, maintaining updated progress records.
  • Foster strong professional relationships with suppliers and contribute to objective supplier performance appraisals.
  • Resolve technical issues with suppliers, assessing the feasibility of current arrangements in case of deviations.
  • Address site queries related to materials, non-conformance reports, and drawings by collaborating with engineering, procurement, and expediting teams to find practical solutions.
  • Conduct routine checks for field expediting needs at supplier shops and participate in expediting visits as directed.
  • Solicit suppliers to maintain inspection plans, coordinate with QA/QC for inspection visits, and review inspection reports.
  • Issue Shipping Release Notes (SRN) to suppliers and logistics teams to initiate shipping, and monitor the process until Material Receipt Vouchers (MRV) are obtained on site.
  • Investigate causes of Excess, Shortage, and Damage (ESD) of supplies and coordinate resolutions with suppliers and procurement.
  • Provide suppliers with invoicing instructions and verify supplier invoices against progress milestones for payment.
  • Facilitate Purchase Order (PO) close-out by expediting the submission of final Material Record Books (MRB) and required documents, initiating certification for payments, and maintaining performance metrics.
  • Approve freight charges, determine shipment modes, resolve supplier conflicts, and provide recommendations on liquidated damages, inspection waivers, and expediting requirements, as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the reporting manager.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must possess an engineering degree and have at least 6 years of project management experience within the oil and gas sector.
