Overview

An established independent ecological consultancy in Bristol is hiring an Ecologist to support its expanding team. With more than 15 years in operation, the business has earned a strong reputation for delivering practical, conservation-focused ecological solutions for a broad mix of development work across Southern England.

This opportunity is well suited to an Ecologist who wants to strengthen technical capability while contributing to a cooperative, supportive and sustainability-minded team. The role involves working across varied projects and offering ecological guidance that supports both development needs and biodiversity improvement.

Salary

The pay range for this position is GBP 29,000 to GBP 36,000 per year.

Role Summary

  • Carry out and help coordinate ecological surveys, including protected species work.
  • Draft ecological reports and prepare licence-related applications.
  • Oversee projects and maintain communication with clients.
  • Develop fee proposals and assist with overall project delivery.
  • Provide practical ecological advice and clear recommendations.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a UK ecological consultancy.
  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a similar discipline.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Good organisation and project coordination skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Existing right to work in the UK without restriction.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and work seasonal survey hours.
  • Residence within a practical commuting distance of the Bristol office, or readiness to relocate to the Bristol area.
