Job description

Role Overview

Galway Bay Hotel is looking to add a Duty Manager to its leadership team. This opportunity is well suited to a recent graduate or hospitality enthusiast who wants to build a career quickly and gain hands-on management exposure within an award-winning hotel group in Ireland.

Full onboarding and training will be provided, and the selected candidate will work closely with senior leaders across the hotel.

Candidates with a recent qualification in hospitality or business, or anyone with a strong interest in hospitality and career growth, are encouraged to apply.

What the Role Involves

In this position, you will be trained to supervise the day-to-day running of the hotel and coordinate with department heads on matters such as guest service, staff training, health and safety, and maintenance.

  • Perform management responsibilities in line with the hotel’s agreed standards.
  • Take ownership of management shifts and ensure smooth handover and execution.
  • Oversee the daily operation of all departments.
  • Manage assigned events, functions, and banquets.
  • Handle guest concerns, complaints, and operational issues as they arise.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of customer care.
  • Support employee training where needed.
  • Take an active role in wedding enquiries and ensure all booking information is accurately recorded.
  • Track updates and changes in the hotel functions diary/book.
  • Work with the Deputy General Manager and Conference & Banqueting Manager to review weekly business forecasts and plan accordingly.
  • Assist with training activities and ensure records are properly documented.
  • Coordinate with the Conference & Banqueting Manager on weekly banqueting business.
  • Attend weekly heads of department meetings.
  • Act with due care for your own safety and the safety of colleagues, guests, and all others on hotel property.

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should bring strong communication and interpersonal abilities, along with excellent written and spoken English. Prior management experience is preferred, and experience in conference & banqueting or food and beverage is an advantage. A third-level qualification in a relevant discipline is also preferred.
