Job description

About the role

As a Dispenser in one of our stores, you will play an important part in the pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.

You will work in the store’s healthcare area and spend your time building trusted relationships with patients by listening to their needs and responding with care. Your day-to-day work will include welcoming customers, dispensing prescriptions, ensuring medicines are sold safely, and offering health and wellbeing advice that helps people make informed choices.

This position is based in-store in the UK. Remote applicants will not be considered. Candidates outside the UK will only be progressed where they can provide relevant UK qualifications and proof of the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescriptions while making sure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
  • Work alongside other healthcare professionals in the store to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
  • Offer patients guidance on medicines and direct queries to the pharmacist when needed.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
  • Stay current with in-store innovations and follow operational processes correctly.
  • Help patients manage repeat prescriptions in a reliable way and support proper medicine use to improve adherence and reduce waste.
  • Use changing store technologies and new systems that improve dispensing processes, patient safety, and the time available to spend with patients.

Requirements

  • You must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or currently be working toward it and have finished the first year of an MPharm degree.
  • You must hold a current and valid right to work in the UK. Sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa is not available for this role.
  • Experience in community pharmacy is desirable.

Perks and benefits

  • Discretionary Christmas gift payment.
  • Staff discount.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave pay, plus a gift card for anyone expecting or adopting a child.
  • Flexible benefits scheme.
  • Access to free 24/7 counselling and support through an employee assistance programme.
  • Regular updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge.
  • Career development opportunities, including the chance to train as a Pharmacy Technician or move into store leadership.

Additional information

The hourly pay for this role is £13.92, increasing up to £16.64 in selected locations within London.

Where a full-time position is advertised, part-time and job-share arrangements can be discussed during the application process.

If you need support during the application or interview stages, reasonable adjustments can be provided.

After an offer is made, the successful candidate must complete a pre-employment check. Depending on location, this may include a DBS, PVG, or Access NI check.

This employer uses a fair-chance hiring approach and will assess applicants with criminal convictions individually.

The organisation values care, inclusion, and continuous improvement, and aims to create a supportive workplace where everyone can be themselves and reach their potential.
