Role overview

Help at Home is looking for compassionate, reliable Direct Support Professionals to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities in Hernando, MS. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting individuals in living with greater independence and dignity.

Pay starts at $13 to $15 per hour, depending on the type of care provided. Weekly pay is available.

What you’ll do

  • Help individuals with everyday living tasks such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal grooming, hygiene, and transportation.
  • Encourage participation in community and social activities, including shopping and events.
  • Support clients in working toward personal goals and recognize their progress.
  • Promote independence, personal choice, and self-advocacy.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided, activities completed, and progress made.
  • Coordinate with other team members to deliver consistent and high-quality support.

Eligibility requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • You need to pass the required background screening and complete mandatory training.
  • A valid driver’s license is necessary, along with reliable transportation and proof of insurance, whether primary or secondary.

Preferred experience

  • Prior work supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism is preferred, especially experience with Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
  • Familiarity with behavior support approaches such as redirection, visual cues, and adjusting the environment is an advantage.
