Job description

Company Overview

Lingua Franca is a New York City luxury fashion and accessories label recognized for hand-embroidered cashmere pieces and responsibly sourced ready-to-wear styles. The brand is known for its playful, conversation-starting perspective and a distinct embroidery style that has built a strong and loyal audience since its launch in 2016.

Role Summary

Lingua Franca is seeking a full-time Digital Designer to be based in New York City, with the option to work remotely on some days. This position focuses on developing compelling digital creative, graphic assets, and web layouts that reflect the brand’s visual identity and overall aesthetic. The work spans marketing campaign materials, digital advertising, user experience improvements through web design, and updates to branding and visual systems.

Reporting Structure

The Digital Designer will help translate the Lingua Franca brand into polished visual assets from initial idea through final delivery. This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and eCommerce and partners closely with the Marketing team to keep projects moving smoothly.

Core Responsibilities

The role covers a wide range of design and production work across owned, earned, and paid channels, supporting both consumer and business audiences in digital and traditional marketing. The designer will develop original creative while staying aligned with the established brand direction, conduct visual research, build layouts and mock-ups, and create materials that communicate campaign concepts clearly and creatively.

Additional work includes designing email newsletters, refining and preparing digital assets, and presenting creative ideas that are distinctive, brand-appropriate, and competitive within the fashion industry. The designer will collaborate with marketing teammates to turn strategic concepts into finished visuals that support business goals, while also managing timelines, file organization, and image libraries.

This role also involves scheduling and segmenting newsletters in the email platform, coordinating image retouching and asset management, communicating workload and deadlines clearly, and helping improve internal processes for greater efficiency and better cross-team coordination. Other tasks and projects may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about the Lingua Franca brand and hold a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related discipline. A minimum of 2 years of in-house experience with a fashion brand is required.

Strong technical ability is needed across Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Figma. Familiarity with After Effects or similar video-editing software is also expected, along with working knowledge of Klaviyo and Shopify.

Applicants should be able to communicate ideas clearly, accept and apply feedback constructively, and speak confidently about both creative direction and practical execution. A customer-focused mindset, interest in fashion, design, and technology, and the ability to manage several projects at once are important. The role also requires someone who works well independently and in team settings.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position with 3 days per week in the New York City office, plus additional in-office time as needed.

Application Note

Applicants should include both a resume and a portfolio for consideration.
